Cartagho Sicilia DOC 2017 featured on Gambero Rosso’s Tre Bicchieri Web Show
Mandrarossa’s iconic elegant red
On July 8th, 2020 Gambero Rosso aired the first of three episodes of the new exciting experience. The “Tre Bicchieri Web Show” aired as scheduled with an exclusive online wine tasting hosted by Marco Sabellico, editor of the guide Vini d’Italia. The first episode, live streamed on the Gambero Rosso International Facebook page, featured Mandrarossa’s Cartagho Sicilia DOC 2017, one of the brand’s iconic wines, Tre Bicchieri 2020.
The brand was presented by Stephan Moccia, Export manager at Mandrarossa, who explained that even if he isn’t Sicilian, Mandrarossa brought him to love this territory with great potential. He describes how Mandrarossa was founded in Menfi on the south-western coast of Sicily in 1999 with the goal of producing high-quality Sicilian wines, through years of study, research and significant investments for mapping the territory and to locate the best match between soil and variety. The territories are not limited to Menfishire, because after 20 years the brand went beyond its borders to explore other parts of Sicily, reaching Etna, where it began the production of two new wines from volcanic soils.
Marco Sabellico focused on how Mandrarossa is the result of a modern vinification process and how some varieties, such as Nero d’Avola, represented in this case by Cartagho, fully express Sicily’s potential. He reflected on the concept of zoning, supporting how it leads to cultivating the right variety in its ideal terroir.
Finally, moving on to the tasting, Sabellico praised Mandrarossa’s Cartagho Sicilia DOC 2017 by defining it an elegant wine, perfectly balanced, with a fruity bouquet with spicy and floral notes while also fresh, with an international and contemporary style, intriguing and greatly refined.
Don’t miss the next episode of Gambero Rosso’s “Tre Bicchieri Web Show”. Mandrarossa will be featured on July 28th at 11:00 am (8:00 pm, Italian time) for a live stream from Canada with Sara Valeri, Export manager for the Canadian market.
