Mandrarossa Etna wines are awarded a gold and silver medal at WOW! The Italian Wine Competition
Sentiero delle Gerle Etna Rosso DOC 2016 and Sentiero delle Gerle, Etna Bianco Doc 2018 receive a gold and silver medal at the oenological award ceremony: WOW! Also awarding Terre del Sommacco red.
2020 continues to be a successful year for Mandrarossa. The quality of the wines and our company have received many positive and gratifying acknowledgements, positive feedback to an ongoing innovation process, research and attention to the land. And at the end of September we received the great result at WOW! The Italian Wine Competition, from Sentiero delle Gerle Etna Rosso DOC 2016, winning the gold medal WOW! and Sentiero delle Gerle, Etna Bianco Doc 2018 receiving the silver one. The two wines, iconic labels belonging to the line Storie Ritrovate, which successfully launched Mandrarossa’s venture in Etna’s territory receiving great feedback.
Besides these two medals there is also the Bronze one awarded to Terre del Sommacco, Sicilia Doc 2017 which brings the Mandrarossa wines to three awarded by WOW! The Italian Wine Competition. The oenological award of Civiltà del bere reserved to national wines, has the goal of researching excellence together with tradition and the 2020 edition has been a success beyond every expectation, in spite of the peculiar historical period which made an organizational simplification necessary. For the third edition of the award, 851 champions participated, strictly selected based on the “T Factor”: Taste, Terroir, Tradition, the triple mix of values that is the focus of the award inspiring the rigid selection. Alessandro Torcoli, director of Civiltà del bere and sole judge of WOW!, has personally blind tasted all the registered wines, explaining the acknowledgements in detail.

Great concentration of the palate and excellent freshness, with a mineral finish and smooth mature tannins» this is how the editorial Civiltà del bere describes Sentiero delle Gerle, Etna Rosso Doc 2016 highlighting the way Mandrarossa’s volcanic red is able to combine intrinsic quality and local identity to the highest levels.
Silver medal WOW! for Sentiero delle Gerle Etna Bianco DOC 2018
«Intense aroma, hints of musk, white fruit. Fruitier than mineral. Thick palate, concentrated, very persistent, responding to the nose. Sapidity and length». This is Alessandro Torcoli’s comment for Sentiero delle Gerle Etna Bianco DOC 2018 awarding it a silver medal, another important acknowledgement for tradition, value and identity. A certificate that, like in the award mission, wants to emphasize the company’s commitment to the respect of the local territory both in the vineyard and in the cellar.
