The Mandrarossa Brigade
It’s known that wine promotes itself through the territory, and food is one of its most authentic and captivating expressions.
The recovery of the farmers’ cuisine represents an ideal tool to promote the local products of excellence. For this reason, in 2012, Mandrarossa created a Kitchen Brigade with 25 Women from Menfi, selected for their cooking skills and their unique and valuable knowledge of the gastronomic tradition.
Together, they researched the most ancient recipes, some of which were passed on for generations in their own families, followed by a significant activity of preparation, revisitation and sharing. This is what started the Mandrarossa Kitchen Brigade, which found and resurrected the traditional dishes and created a special menu of the territory, thanks to a united and positive group, based on values such as solidarity and sustainability.
Protect and promote wine and food from the territory.
Menfi is a land suitable for agriculture since the ancient times. Next to the vine, undoubtable protagonist of the local cultivation, over the centuries, Menfi’s land has created an important farming community.
A place full of traditions, first among all the food and wine, with deep roots in the local cuisine. Menfi’s cuisine is made of simple aromas and flavours, the ingredients are seasonal products, locally harvested from small vegetable gardens, picked and prepared by tireless and expert hands. The women use organic products.
The moment for a meal isn’t only for nutrition, but it’s also for bringing the family together. For this reason, each event, party or important recurrence is sealed by unique dishes that feature simple ingredients while prepared with care, dedication and knowledge. The creators are the women, angels of the house and undisputable queens of the kitchen, who learned the recipes and preparation techniques from their mothers and grandmothers, preserving the whole farm gastronomy culture from Menfi.
