Menfi (AG) - June 24, 2014 - Great success for the Mandrarossa Kitchen Brigade's trip to Germany. On June 19th, in the luxurious setting of the Park Hotel Albrecht in Völklingen, a small town on the border with France, Mandrarossa's wines were celebrated with an event dedicated to Sicily's food and wine culture and, in particular, to rural cuisine. Never before had a wine event had such a turnout: 1,400 people, including consumers and operators in the sector, who were able to share the experience of an imaginary journey to the land of Sicilian wine, evoked by the scents of Mandrarossa wines and by the flavors of the local dishes prepared by the skilled hands of Menfi's Ladies.

The results of the 2014 edition of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, the international event dedicated to great quality wines and an indicator of the year's tastes and market trends, have just been announced. A medals galore for the most distinctive labels of the Sicilian brand Mandrarossa, the maximum expression of the passion and vocation of the winemakers from Menfi.
It is still raining awards and accolades for the Sicilian brand Mandrarossa, which, after receiving three prestigious medals at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, has won a silver medal for its Mandrarossa Syrah Desertico. At the eighth edition of the competition, held in France from May 14 to 16, a jury of experts reviewed and evaluated 405 Syrah labels from 26 countries from all over the world, testifying to how widespread and appreciated this variety native to the Rhone Valley is.
Menfi, nestled between Castelvetrano and Sciacca, in the PDO VAL DI Mazzara area, is a land with a great agricultural tradition, where the hillsides are covered by vineyards, as well as the green foliage of the olive groves. Its hilly configuration makes it perfect for the cultivation of Nocellara del Belice, Biancolilla and Cerasuola, olive varieties that differ from one another for their scent, color, and intensity of flavor. These, in turn, vary according to the groves’ latitude and proximity to the sea. The Mediterranean climate, production methods, and the work of hundreds of families make the oil produced in this area achieve the highest levels of quality.
The "Chardonnay du Monde" Competition is an international contest between the best Chardonnays in the world. The twenty-first edition, held from March 12th to 15th, at Château de Ravatays, Saint Lager, in the heart of the Burgundy wine region, saw 749 samples of Chardonnay from 40 countries around the world compete this year. Only 5 medals were won by Italian wines, of which three bronze and two silver. At its debut on the international scene, Mandrarossa Chardonnay Laguna Secca DOC Sicilia 2013 made it to the podium.
The international jury of The MUNDUS VINI International Wine Award has awarded its most important prize, the gold medal, to Timperosse 2013, a monovarietal Petit Verdot wine, which is the result of the intense experimentation work that Mandrarossa has always conducted in its vineyards.
The great variety of grapes cultivated locally, be they autochthonous, international or experimental, are the fruit of long and intense experimentation in the vineyard and Mandrarossa wines are able to distinctly and genuinely express both the traditional and innovative faces of Sicilian viticulture in all its facets.
